Serpent 1/12 prototype 1980

At the very first European Championships 1/12 scale held in 1980 at Brugg, Switzerland Ron Ton of the Serpent team was attending with a prototype car. This was based on a flat pan chassis and using RC12E rear axle blocks and diff.
The front end was his own design, similar to what was used for their 1/8 scale MK III gas car. The radio tray was longer than found at most other 1/12 scale cars, extending to the bellcrank-type servo saver. Some details as the single front body post and the o-rings for mounting the batteries were found also at British cars of that time frame. For electronics, Ron used a Robbe/Futaba Terra radio and a Demon 2 ESC. For the motor he went with a MRP modified.

This prototype never went into production, 28 years later Serpent introduced their first 1/12 scale car. Ron Ton was one of the founders of Serpent in 1980, with Pieter Bervoets being his business partner and team mate. Ron also was designing all of their early cars.
